Essential Equipment

You don't need expensive gear to take great card photos:

• Smartphone camera (iPhone 12+ or equivalent Android)

• Natural light source or LED light box ($30-50)

• White or neutral background

• Card stand or holder

Lighting Techniques

Natural Light: Photograph near a window during daytime, but avoid direct sunlight which creates harsh shadows. Overcast days provide the best natural lighting.

Artificial Light: Use two LED lights at 45-degree angles to eliminate shadows. Keep lights at the same height as the card.

Composition Tips

• Fill the frame - card should take up 70-80% of the image

• Keep camera parallel to card to avoid distortion

• Take multiple angles: front, back, edges, and any flaws

• Use macro mode for close-ups of signatures or damage
