Refractor

The base chrome card has a chromium finish but no rainbow reflection. A refractor adds the rainbow reflective layer, which makes the card visually distinctive when tilted under light. Refractors typically print at a smaller run than the base chrome version.

Functionally yes — both are rainbow-reflective parallels. But Refractor is Topps's trademarked terminology (Topps Chrome, Bowman Chrome, Finest, Stadium Club Chrome), while Prizm is Panini's (Panini Prizm, Optic, Select, Mosaic). The chemistry is similar; the brand is different.

Colored refractors (Gold, Red, Black, SuperFractor) print at progressively smaller numbered runs — Gold /50, Red /5, SuperFractor 1/1. Scarcity drives the price; the rainbow finish stays roughly the same.
