This article covers the basic tax reporting rules sellers should review and the records you should keep for your own filings.
**Disclaimer:** This is general information, not tax advice. Consult a tax professional for your specific situation.
SuperCatch tracks your calendar-year gross and transaction count against the 1099-K threshold that applies to you and shows both on **Store → Settings → Tax Information**. The federal threshold for tax year 2025 onward is more than $20,000 in gross payments AND more than 200 transactions; several states (including MA, VT, VA, MD, DC, IL, NJ, MO, MT, AR and NC) report at much lower amounts regardless of the federal rule, so the number we show you is whichever applies.
Only payments SuperCatch itself settled are counted. Orders paid through eBay, Amazon, Etsy or Walmart are settled by those platforms and are reported by them, not by us.
When you reach the threshold we collect a **W-9** so your taxpayer details are on file. Your taxpayer identification number is encrypted at rest and only the last four digits are ever shown back to you or to staff.
SuperCatch does not yet generate or file the 1099-K itself. Until form issuance ships, reporting your sales remains your own responsibility — consult a tax professional for guidance specific to your situation.
SuperCatch collects **W-8BEN** (individuals) and **W-8BEN-E** (entities) on the same Tax Information page when your address is outside the US. We do not currently withhold on international seller payouts and do not file forms on your behalf. Consult an international tax advisor about your own reporting obligations.
