Description
Released in 2021 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Innistrad: Crimson Vow Minigames set, the Monster of the Week card introduces a distinct twist on the traditional trading card experience. Identified by card number 1 and set code MVOW, this common foil card functions as a double-faced token designed to facilitate a specific mini-game mode. Unlike standard cards used for deck construction, this piece is intended for immediate play using just one pack of booster cards. The gameplay setup is simple yet engaging. Players open a booster pack to select the Monster of the Week card, which serves as the opponent. By setting aside ad and art cards and shuffling the remainder into a library, the player creates a random challenge. The objective is to survive the night by defeating the monster in a game that starts with zero cards in hand and 20 life. As the game progresses, players generate Treasure tokens each turn, adding a resource management layer to the survival theme. The foil finish adds a tactile quality that distinguishes it from standard commons, making it a favorite among those who enjoy interactive magic experiences. It represents a creative side of the game that emphasizes fun and spontaneity over structured strategy. Whether you are a casual player seeking a new way to engage with your boosters or a collector of unique Magic: The Gathering artifacts, this card offers a memorable piece of gaming history.

1 player | 1 pack | 5 minutes OBJECTIVE: Survive the night by defeating the monster in your booster! GET READY: Open a booster and pick a double-faced card (DFC), then set it aside. This is the monster you will face. Discard all ad, token, and art cards. Shuffle the remaining cards into a stack and place it face down to create your library. LET'S PLAY: Play a game of Magic against the monster with the following rule modifications: • You start with zero cards in hand and 20 life. • At the beginning of your upkeep, create a Treasure token. (It's an artifact with "{T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.") The monster doesn't have a life total, mana, or library, and it can only be defeated by removing it from the battlefield twice: once on its front side and once on its transformed side.
