Description
The Ariados #27 card from the 2000 Neo Genesis set represents a classic entry for collectors of early Pokémon Trading Card Game history. As a Stage 1 evolution from Spinarak, this Grass-type Pokémon was a staple in many strategies during the early 2000s. With 60 HP, Ariados offered a balanced presence in battles, capable of controlling the opponent's board with its signature Grass Spider Web attack. This move allows players to flip a coin, and if successful, prevents the Defending Pokémon from retreating, adding a layer of strategic depth to gameplay. In addition to its control capabilities, Ariados features the Poison Bite attack, which deals 20 damage and can poison the opponent. If the attack damages the Defending Pokémon, the player can remove damage counters from Ariados, showcasing its resilience in prolonged battles. These mechanics make the card not only a nostalgic piece for long-time fans but also a functional component for those interested in vintage deck-building. Designed by Ken Sugimori, the card captures the essence of the Pokémon world, with flavor text noting its unique ability to spin string from both its rear and mouth. Whether you are a seasoned collector focusing on vintage TCG cards or a new enthusiast exploring the Pokémon universe, this card offers a tangible connection to the early days of Pokémon trading. The enduring appeal of Neo Genesis lies in its diverse roster and the strategic possibilities it offers, making Ariados a valuable addition to any Pokémon TCG collection. For those interested in the history of the game, this card serves as a reminder of the innovative designs and gameplay mechanics that defined the era.

Card Text
Abilities, attacks, oracle text, and flavor text printed on the card.
Attack: Spider Web
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon can't retreat. (Benching or evolving that Pokémon ends this effect.)
Attack: Poison Bite (20)
If this attack damages the Defending Pokémon, the Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned and you remove a number of damage counters from Ariados equal to half that damage (rounded up to the nearest 10). If Ariados has fewer damage counters than that, remove all of them.
It spins string not only from its rear but also from its mouth. It's hard to tell which end is which.
