Description
The Arena Anthology 3 Necromancy card, designated as card number 9, stands as a distinctive entry in the 2025 Magic: The Gathering release. As an Uncommon Enchantment, this card introduces a complex interaction between the graveyard and the battlefield, appealing to players who enjoy strategic depth and resource management. The card features art by Pete Venters, whose style complements the dark, magical themes inherent to the black mana color identity. Gameplay for Necromancy revolves around its unique casting ability and entry effect. Players may cast this spell as though it had flash, allowing for surprise plays during opponents' turns. However, if cast when a sorcery could not normally be cast, the enchantment must be sacrificed at the beginning of the next cleanup step, adding a layer of risk to its usage. When Necromancy enters the battlefield, it transforms into an Aura that enchants a creature card from a graveyard, bringing it back under your control. This mechanic allows for powerful late-game recoveries, turning discarded cards into immediate threats. The design of this card emphasizes strategic decision-making, as players must weigh the benefit of reviving a creature against the potential loss of the enchantment itself. When Necromancy leaves the battlefield, the enchanted creature is sacrificed, creating a temporary but impactful advantage. This cycle of gain and loss defines the card's role in various deck archetypes within the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The Necromancy card, with its specific rules text and mana cost of {2}{B}, offers a tangible piece of this strategic landscape. Its presence in the 2025 set provides a fresh take on classic themes, making it a valuable addition for those building collections or seeking competitive tools.

You may cast this spell as though it had flash. If you cast it any time a sorcery couldn't have been cast, the controller of the permanent it becomes sacrifices it at the beginning of the next cleanup step. When this enchantment enters, if it's on the battlefield, it becomes an Aura with "enchant creature put onto the battlefield with Necromancy." Put target creature card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control and attach this enchantment to it. When this enchantment leaves the battlefield, that creature's controller sacrifices it.
