Description
The Demon's Due double-faced token from the 2022 Streets of New Capenna Minigames set offers a unique competitive experience for Magic: The Gathering enthusiasts. Identified as card number 2 in the MSNC subset, this release diverges from standard gameplay by introducing a structured social event designed for two or more participants. Unlike traditional matches, this variant requires players to establish a temporary allegiance to one of New Capenna's five prominent crime families: The Obscura, The Maestros, The Riveteers, The Cabaretti, or The Brokers. The core mechanic revolves around the strategic dismantling of a booster pack. Each participant opens a standard pack, discards any cards lacking the distinctive Magic card back, and shuffles the remainder into a face-down deck. The objective is to outmaneuver rivals by leveraging your selected family's identity while navigating the tension of concealing your most valuable assets from the mob boss. This format emphasizes deduction and resource management over complex spell interactions, making it a distinct addition to the broader Magic: The Gathering trading card game ecosystem. As a common rarity item, it serves as an accessible entry point for those interested in the Streets of New Capenna era's broader narrative. The double-faced layout adds a layer of complexity, allowing the token to transform based on the game's progression. For hobbyists documenting the evolution of Magic: The Gathering's side formats, this card represents a fascinating glimpse into the creative experimentation that defined the 2022 release cycle.

2 or more players | 1 pack per player | 10 min OBJECTIVE: As a member of a New Capenna crime family, you make a name for yourself by showing off your ill-gotten profits. But keep in mind—the most valuable trinkets go directly into the mob boss's pockets. GET READY: First, each player declares allegiance to a crime family. The families are: The Obscura, The Maestros, The Riveteers, The Cabaretti, and The Brokers. (You can pick the same family as another player.) Each player opens a booster, sets aside all cards without Magic card backs, then shuffles the remaining cards to form their face-down deck. LET'S PLAY: Each round, players draw until they have four cards. Players then place two cards from their hand face down in front of them as profit. When finished, all players simultaneously reveal their profit cards and
