Description
Number 2 in the original Base Set, Blastoise is a Stage 2 Water-type Pokémon that evolves from Wartortle. This 1999 release, illustrated by Ken Sugimori, remains a cornerstone for enthusiasts of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. As a Holo Rare, this card features a distinctive foil finish that distinguishes it within the set's roster. In gameplay, Blastoise boasts 100 HP and offers strategic versatility. Its Rain Dance ability allows players to attach Water Energy to other Water Pokémon as often as desired during their turn, facilitating powerful setups. The Hydro Pump attack deals 40 damage plus 10 additional damage for each Water Energy attached beyond the attack's cost, making it a formidable offensive option. With a retreat cost of 3, it requires careful resource management. Collectors value this product for its historical significance in the TCG's early days. Completing the Base Set often involves securing low-numbered cards like #2, making it a priority for serious investors and hobbyists.

Ability: Rain Dance
As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may attach 1 Water Energy card to 1 of your Water Pokémon. (This doesn't use up your 1 Energy card attachment for the turn.) This power can't be used if Blastoise is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
Attack: Hydro Pump (40+)
Does 40 damage plus 10 more damage for each Water Energy attached to Blastoise but not used to pay for this attack's Energy cost. Extra Water Energy after the 2nd doesn't count.
A brutal Pokémon with pressurized water jets on its shell. They are used for high-speed tackles.
