Description
Ho-Oh stands as one of the most recognizable figures in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, originally introduced in the Johto region. This card appears in the Secret Wonders expansion, released in 2007. As a Reverse Holo Rare, it offers collectors a distinctive foil finish that contrasts with the standard holographic treatment found in many other sets. The card is numbered 10, placing it early in the base set sequence. Designed by Kazuyuki Kano, this Basic Fire-type Pokémon carries 90 Hit Points, providing a sturdy foundation for decks focused on its signature abilities. The card’s gameplay revolves around its Phoenix Turn ability, which allows players to prevent Ho-Oh from being discarded if it would be Knocked Out, provided a coin flip results in heads. This mechanic makes it a resilient presence on the battlefield, capable of surviving critical hits in competitive play. The card’s primary offensive tool is the Rainbow Wing attack. This move deals 20 damage multiplied by the number of different types of Basic Energy cards attached to Ho-Oh. This unique scaling mechanic encourages players to build diverse energy bases, making the card a strategic centerpiece for those looking to maximize damage output. The design reflects the mythical nature of the Pokémon, whose feathers are said to promise eternal happiness to those who witness them. For collectors, the Secret Wonders set holds a special place in the history of the Pokémon TCG. It was the final expansion of the original Base Set cycle before the introduction of the Jungle and Fossil expansions. Ho-Oh remains a sought-after card for those building complete sets or focusing on legendary Pokémon. The reverse holo treatment adds an extra layer of visual appeal, distinguishing it from the standard holo rare versions. Whether you are looking to complete your Secret Wonders collection or add a powerful legendary to your roster, this card represents a key piece of Pokémon history.

Card Text
Abilities, attacks, oracle text, and flavor text printed on the card.
Ability: Phoenix Turn
Once during your opponent's turn, if Ho-Oh would be Knocked Out by damage from an attack, you may flip a coin. If heads, Ho-Oh isn't discarded. Instead, remove all damage counter, Special Conditions, and other effects from Ho-Oh. Then, discard all cards attached to Ho-Oh (except for Energy cards). This counts as Ho-Oh being Knocked Out and your opponent takes a Prize card.
Attack: Rainbow Wing (20×)
This attack does 20 damage times the number of different types of basic Energy cards attached to Ho-Oh.
Its feathers are in seven colors. It is said that anyone seeing it is promised eternal happiness.
