Description
Lanturn card #21 from the Aquapolis set represents a distinct moment in the early 2000s Pokémon Trading Card Game era. Released in 2003, this Stage 1 Pokémon evolves from Chinchou and carries the Pokédex number 171. As a Rare card in the Aquapolis expansion, it holds a specific place for collectors building out the base set or focusing on Water-type lineups. Designed by Yuka Morii, the card introduces the Ion Coating ability, a mechanic that allows trainers to convert Lightning Energy into Water Energy. This utility offers strategic flexibility, bridging the gap between two distinct elemental types. Lanturn’s attack, Electric Tackle, scales with the number of Lightning Energy attached, dealing 20 damage plus an additional 10 for each energy, though it carries the risk of self-damage if a coin flip results in tails. Lanturn serves as a key component for those interested in the evolution line and the specific mechanics introduced during this period. The card’s 80 HP and single retreat cost make it a notable presence in the set’s ecosystem. Whether you are tracking down specific numbers from the Aquapolis series or expanding your library of early 2000s collectibles, this card offers a tangible connection to the game’s evolving strategy. Collectors often seek out cards like Lanturn #21 to complete their set collections or to appreciate the design evolution of the franchise during its formative years. Understanding the context of the Aquapolis release helps collectors appreciate the significance of each card. This expansion contributed to the rich tapestry of Pokémon TCG history, offering new abilities and attacks that influenced gameplay for years to come. Lanturn remains a recognizable figure for fans of the franchise and a valuable addition to any organized collection of Pokémon cards.

Ability: Ion Coating
You may use this power once during each of your turns (before your attack). All Lightning Energy attached to your Active Pokémon becomes Water Energy for the rest of the turn. (This effect ends if your Active Pokémon retreats or is returned to your hand.) This power can't be used if Lanturn is affected by a Special Condition.
Attack: Electric Tackle (20+)
This attack does 20 damage plus 10 damage for each Lightning Energy attached to Lanturn. Flip a coin. If tails, Lanturn does 10 damage to itself for each Lightning Energy attached to it.
