Description
The Pokémon Blastoise card numbered 37 originates from the Expedition Base Set, released in 2002. As a Stage 2 Water-type Pokémon, this card represents the final evolution of the Charmander line and carries 100 Hit Points. The card is categorized as a Rare with Reverse Holo finish, designed by Kimiya Masago. Collectors appreciate this card for its strategic gameplay mechanics. The Jet Stream ability allows players to flip a coin while Blastoise is Active; if the result is heads, an Energy card attached to it can be discarded. This mechanic offers flexibility in energy management during matches. Additionally, the card features a powerful attack called WaterColorless Energy Cannon. This move deals 40 damage plus an additional 10 damage for each Energy attached to Blastoise that was not used to pay the attack's cost. The damage bonus can reach up to 20 extra points, making it a significant offensive option for players utilizing this archetype. The Expedition Base Set remains a notable era in the franchise's history, and Blastoise #37 is a key component for those building complete collections. The Reverse Holo variation adds visual distinction to the card, appealing to collectors who focus on finish types alongside set completion. Understanding the evolution path from Wartortle and the strategic value of the Jet Stream ability helps collectors evaluate the card's role in both casual play and collection goals. When researching this release, it is important to distinguish the 2002 Expedition Base Set printing from other versions of Blastoise. This card number and set combination offer a unique identity within the broader Pokémon trading card landscape.
